Pensione in Paris

Interested in a BUDGET pensione in Paris. Third week in August for two. Small with washroom down the hall is fine, not picky. Clean with breakfast. Will be walking or taking metro/bus to get around the city. Thanks for any and all help.

What do you mean by pensione? That's an Italian term, not used in Paris as far as I know - well, there's a word "pension," but it's kind of archaic in terms of accommodations available these days.

Just state what you want to pay for accommodations per night and we can tell you what we know.

What do you consider budget - how much do you want to spend? And how many nights?

Thinking 4 or 5 nights. Under $100. Thanks.

Single room? Double? Any more information you can provide? Of the cuff, the Hôtel de France - Invalides is one of my hotels of choice in Paris and it's under $100 for a single right now with the exchange rate.

Thanks, I'll look into that. There are two of us, either a double bed or two singles will work.

Hôtel Excelsior can give you 78 euros if you book directly on their min 3night stay package. It is in the 5th on a quiet side street off Boulevard St.Michel, right beside the Sorbonne university, across the street from Luxembourg Garden and close to the Panthéon.
Lots of restaurants around so skip their breakfast.

re Nadia's recommendation -- You'd want the Hotel Excelsior Latin -- there are several other hotels named "Excelsior" in Paris.

Hotel du Loiret
8 rue des Mauvais Garçons 75004

Single 70 euro
Double 90 euro

It's located right in the heart of le Marais. Small, clean, safe. I couldn't believe the location for the price. Walking distance to metro. I'm on my way back to Paris in three weeks and will be staying here again. I highly recommend it.

Here is their web site. http://hotel-du-loiret.fr/

To clarify...these are hotels, not gites/B&Bs...so no hearty breakfast or hanging with the owners.

Who needs a hearty breakfast in Paris when you can go to a local bakery? If you do want a breakfast, it's 7 euros at the hotel I mentioned. Pretty good, I've paid up to 12 euros for a hotel breakfast.

In my neighborhood, you can get room from 20€ to 55€ (the higher rate is with full bath and cable TV).

Hôtel de Torcy (rue de Torcy)
Hôtel Riquet (rue Riquet)
Hôtel de la Poste (rue Riquet)

All of them are at metro Marx Dormoy, and you can't reserve them over the internet. You can see photos of them in reply #26 of this link:
