PENSIONE ACCADEMIA, Venice

In 3 trips to Venice, this is the first time I've managed to snare a room here. What's good enough for K Hepburn's good enough for me! Still, I'd like to hear of others' recent experiences here. Best rooms for canal view? (Top floor, I assume; do they have elevator?) Any other tips?

I've stayed there twice and love it but it's a crap shoot as to whether you get a room with a canal view. Especially if you're going at the height of tourist season. Luigi, the day manager, told me there are a lot of repeat guests every year that book for the next year when they check out. Any room with a view of the canal is wonderful no matter what floor you're on. They have a miniscule elevator as is the norm for small hotels. Have breakfast in the courtyard and enjoy. My only other tip is to not tell other people about the place because then I won't be able to get a reservation when I go again!!

Logan,
I'm staying there too, in September. If that is before your trip, email me at the end of Sept and I'll let you know!
Susan

Please share the website to the Pensione or let us know how you went about booking.

www.PensioneAccademia.it, has an icon for booking. You send an email to the hotel. If available, they require a deposit to hold the room. I sent $130 USD for a 330,000 lira room in October (canal view).

Oh, and I booked the room early part of this year. Not sure how the $130.00 USD was calculated for deposit, but that is what they asked for.
