Pension "U zlateho jelena" (Golden stag) in Prague???

Hi there,

we (7) are planning to celebrate a 60s birthday in Prague. Has anybody ever heard of the Pension "U zlateho jelena" in Celetna str. 11, Old Town. Athos.cz recommended it to me for a price of 35 EURO/person which definitly is a very good price for the old town.

Cheers, Nadia

Hi Nadia,
I just got back from a business trip to Prague and was lucky enough to have a spare day there.
I have a map in front of me and it looks like the Celetna str is in a good location although of course I didn't visit it.
I would suggest some things to you.
1. If you want a great meal in interesting surroundings visit U sadlu restaurant
http://www.pragueexperience.com/places.asp?PlaceID=402
or if you are at the st nicky's church area there is a great pub/restaurant for you to try. Its called the 3 black roses and is U3 Cernych Ruzi
I Zamecka Prague
Don't wear stilletto's around prague most is cobbled streets and loads of roadworks so be careful.
The Cathedral and castle areas are quite hilly.
But the tube system is clean and cheap and all essentials are really cheap, luxuries appear to be the same price as anywhere else.

Have a great time

Mucky-looks like there are two locations for U Sadlu. Which one did you go to?

I have seen it -- it's right near a favorite jewelry store of mine, Cesky Granat, which is on Celetna also. It certainly is a very central location, you couldn't get more central as it's just a bit down a street leading off from the main square. It could be awfully noisy, I would think, depending on the position of the room. That place is right on the street, there is no setback there and that's a very busy and noisy area. Pensions are usually cheaper than hotels. Could be a good deal, I'd ask if the room overlooked the street.
