paying for checked luggage

Does anyone know what's going on with paying for checked luggage on international flights? Is it happening yet? Or does it just depend on the airline? Also has anyone had any experiences with British Airways? I'm looking at possibly booking a flight with them and wanted to check out opinions first. Thanks!

All the info you need about luggage/fees is spelled out on each airlines website.

To and from the US British Airways allows 2 checked bags per person weighing not more than 23 kg each in coach. They do not charge for these bags, but do charge for overweight luggage.

Thanks for the info! Anyone have any personal experiences with British Airways? Or heard anything in regards to flying with them?

I've flown BA between Seattle/London four times. I like them just fine.

BA are fine. In fact their food is a bit better than some other airlines. Some flights, such as the ones to and from Phoenix, get very full since they are the only direct flights to certain US cities from Europe, and a transfer within Europe is preferable to one within the US.

I am partial to Virgin Atlantic but they have fewer departure points and flights from the U.S. than BA, at least last time I checked. Baggage allowance is similar.
