True...simple solution. Do as I do, bring 3 or 4 different cards just in case. Of course there is a main card but should one be compromised while travelling, they will for the most part work with you to send a replacement card to your hotel or wherever. In the interim, you are ccovered (although I suppose one could argue what if all the cards are compromised. For that, I have no answer.

I would be 100% confident the cc was compromised at the hotel.

Honestly, xyz, I'm thinking you should ensure booking has knowledge of what happened. Guessing you've done that, but if not you should tell it. The companies usually subcontract cybersecurity issues to specialists and may not know if they've been hacked.

Russ...from what I've read, there have been problems at places like booking.com but any time you use your card online, it can be compromised. Let's fact it. That's part of modern life. Credit card fraud is modern day bank robbery without the guns. For the time being, the use of chip cards has cut into card is present cloning of cards and the theft of data; but it's only a matter of time.

Again, I was just trying to point out possible pitfalls. None of this is worth having an argument over nor am I suggesting in the slightest not to use these agencies.

the use of chip cards has cut into card is present cloning of cards and the theft of data; but it's only a matter of time.

This has nothing to do with on-line usage.

I said that.

with booking.com I tend to only pay at the hotel "pay when you stay" but then I tend to pay in the E55 downward area

Another question........

At an ATM in London with USA card-----choice of conversion fee or non-conversion fee. Which to choose?

thursdaysd Aug 11th, 2016 05:11 AM

That's DCC again. Non-conversion
