patrick the Europe maven

you are absolutely correct that I don't really know how to use the website but thanks for the info to click on next to name to get one's messages. any other info you can send me to help me be more literate would be appreciated. by the way , I am a traveller & have been to all continents except for Antartica

Huh?

Might help if you had appended your remarks to the thread where "patrick the Europe maven" made his comment instead of starting a new thread.

Patrick Jan 19th, 2005 08:07 AM

LOL. This is in reply to a thread where I explained to richardor how he could find his messages as he kept reposting the same one over and over unable to find them. I did it politely, but someone thought it appropriate to slam me for being the "self-appointed" patrol, and suggested that my advice be ignored. Can you imagine someone resenting another poster giving helpful information?

richardor Jan 19th, 2005 08:25 AM

Patrick, You should not be slammed for trying to help a new, unknowledgeable Fodor member. Appreciate your explaing how to recover ones messages sent. would love any additional advise how use the website. Thank you for your patience & help. richardor

Patrick, I'd believe almost anything on here...

I got slammed repeatedly for sincere advice I'd offered on a thread last week. I didn't even know the poster who was slamming me and the slam made no sense.

I've never seen you give bad or insincere advice yet!

Still interested in your advice about London, Patrick. I did answer your question about timing, without getting too specific. You can accept what I posted as being truthful, so perhaps you'd now offer some thoughts on restaurants, etc. Thanks.

Perhaps Fodors could use a larger typeface so HELP and RULES would be easier to find. They are near the top on the left hand side.

Am I being too obvious?

rex Jan 19th, 2005 10:10 AM

And "clicking on one's one name" is not IN the "HELP".

It should be one of the things that is pointed out in the very first e-mail sent to a new registrant - - and/or repeated when a new registrant makes his/her first post on a forum (I wonder what percentage of people registed and do NOT make a post their first day).

Best wishes,

Rex

Well, Rex, what happened when you e-mailed the "editors" and suggested this improvement?

TuckH Jan 19th, 2005 12:53 PM

"would love any additional advise how use the website."

richardor:

Are you able to use the "search" box for more helpful information? Are you able to "save" information in a Word Text? Are you able to "store" a favored thread?

Please go ahead and ask...

I have mailed a thread on which I posted this. Got no reply.
