Patrick: Aptartment recommendations in Florence
Patrick,
I was reading a post where you wrote that you stay in apartments in Florence. This is our first trip to Europe and we would like to stay in the city(Florence) for one week in an apatment. We don't like the idea of a hotel breakfast, would rather do small cafes. Would you give some recommendations for apts. based on your experiences? Thank you. |
I think Patrick stayed in Montepulciano during his last trip to Italy. That's where we are staying next month. ((b))

Sweetgrass,
We stayed at the Lepri Apartments at San Lorenzo, about a block from the Duomo. www.sleepinginflorence.com There's a wonderful detailed review of this apartment and many others at:www.slowtrav.com In a nutshell, the apartment had a great location, tasteful modern furniture ( very Met home), a sparkling clean modern bathroom, shower only, that was downstairs from the loft bedroom. The kitchen included a dishwasher and washing machine. The downsides were: 63 steps up to the apartment, no real contact with the landlady in case you had an emergency, and the above mentioned downstairs bathroom. Oh, if you're tall you could easily crack your skull on the beam in the loft bedroom. Minor complaints. It's a lovely apartment in a very convenient spot. |
Sorry, sweetgrass, but Budman has it right. We've never stayed in Florence in an apartment and certainly not for a week. We've stayed there for three or four nights the first time and just one night another. I doubt that we will return there. Florence doesn't do much for me, especially now that I've seen the art I wanted to see.

Sweetgrass, we've also rented the Lepri apartment at San Lorenzo Apartments and were very pleased, although my husband nearly cracked his skull on the top of the loft, as well. :)
Gianna has several apartments in that building suiting various space needs and tastes, and the location and prices can't be beat, IMO. |
There are hundreds of apartments in Florence. I found my apartment by searching on the internet, slowtravel.com is a great site as well as going to google and typing in "apartments in Florence".
My advise is to book early. I booked 3 months out and there were very few options since I was staying for a month and needed a 2 bedroom or a 1 and a loft. I leave in 2 weeks and will post if I made a good decision or not. |
