Passports stamped in Andorra?
 

I would like to know whether the officials in Andorra stamp your passport upon entering. Thanks!

As a rule, in many places, you might be able to go to a post office and have someone who has the authority to stamp it. But I was there about nine years ago, and it sure wasn't obvious where you could find anyone to do it.<BR><BR>In fact, I don't think my passport shows more than about a third of the countries I've been in, since I got a new one about five years ago. And the one before that didn't have many of the countries I had visited either. Even when you fly in or out of a country (as in from one EU country to another), I don't think you will necessarily have someone stamp your passport.<BR><BR>Best wishes,<BR><BR>Rex<BR>

I visited Andorra 2 years ago, and one of the things I remember is that there still were checkpoints at its borders.<BR>Passports were checked and almost all cars were inspected.<BR><BR>As far as I remember this was only done by Spanish and French customs, when leaving Andorra. I do not remember one Andorran official showing any interest in who was entering his country.<BR><BR>The reason for this checks is obvious when you enter Andorra: the borderland is stuffed with liquor stores and other taxfree paradises. I think its neighbours see it more or less as a smuggler's nest...

They don't stamp at the border, but you can get a souvenir stamp in your passport (the old coat of arms stamp they used before they began scanning instead) at the Sindicat d'Initiativa (Chamber of Commerce):<BR><BR>Sindicat d'Initiativa de las Valls d'Andorra, Carrer Dr Vilanova, Andorra la Vella.
