Passports - Save $10 Before Mar 7
 

I saw in the paper that passports are going up $10 after Mar 7 because of some security fee but that if you apply by Mar 7 you'll save the $10 - apply at post offices.

Does that apply to renewals, because mine will be up in about 6 months?

JJ5. Be careful about having a pp with only 6 mo. to go. Some places have strictures against a pp that will expire in less than 6 mo. Also it can take time to get a new one.

don't know about renewals but i expect so because it's a 9-11 related security 'user fee' that's being added on to the cost of a passport. Call your post office and check.

The fee is $12 and is added to first-time applications (will be $97) and renewals (will be $67).
