Passport Tracking Number...Any way to tell where it is?
Is there a way to tell which processing center your passport is in by the tracking number given on the website? I understand some people can't even get that online, but mine has been showing on their site for about 8 weeks now. Thanks!
Also, if anyone knows, do you personally have to be the one to go to the passport center if it gets down to that? We don't live anywhere near one of the centers. Closest is more than 12 hours away. That's why I ask. Thanks!

I had the same problem last year, passports took 4+months and i was worried. I saw that status online which appeared the same for weeks. Eventually I called direct to inquire and they were able to give me more specific info. Try to call!
Good luck

I waited 13 weeks and still did not have my passport--they are VERY, VERY far behind. Someone told me to contact my US senator's office. I called, faxed a letter authorizing his office to contact the US Passport Agency on my behalf, and 2 days later I had my passport. Give it a try.

There have been a lot of posts on this subject on various forums and the consensus seems to be that the only way to really expedite (other than personally going to passport office) is to contact your Senator/Representative and let them intervene.
