Passport to Europe TV Show

A pretty good TV program about travel to Europe is the Travel Channel's "Passport To Europe." Samatha Brown (Great Hotels) hits a different European city each day. It's on eastern time at noon and 3:30.

I have been recording that show and watching it in the evenings. I never cared much for Samantha Brown, but I still recommend that show to anyone who loves Europe.

samantha is adorable and we (husband and I) love her shows. I wish they were longer than 30 minutes, cause sometimes I think it only allows a superficial glance at a place, but they are great, entertaining shows. I've watched her for years. The outtake videos on their web page are hilarious...!

Samantha Brown is a witty, charming, spontaneous and fun loving young lady. She also is beautifrul.

It always seems to be the ugliest people that can't acknowlege or recognize something that is outstanding.

She writes her own material and performs in a very spontaneous natural way.

Her program is quite different than the usual droning on that happens on many other travel programs. The hosts on Globe trekkers for example are some really very unattractive people.

All of you that are unjustly criticizing Ms Brown are ugly AND jealous. Samamtha is a real winner.

And all of you who are unfairly and overdramatically attacking another person's point of view in a childish manner are small minded and need to grow up. Not everyone has to love the host of a television show. One person can think they are talented and brilliant; another can find them dull and nothing out of the ordinary.

What happened to civilized posts here at Fodors?

Joemar: thanks for the information

Mat003: Well said!!

The Fine Living channel has also started running the Rudy Maxa travel shows -- I like Samantha Browns much better (she is much more excited and vivacious, and has fewer bad puns :P), but he has some interesting views, as well.

Perhaps Gusto's post was a parody of the many "If you don't like Rick Steves, it must be because you're jealous of him" messages.

I too love watching the show, although I wish they were longer. After the commercials, there is barely 15 minutes of the show to watch (we video tape it and watch it at night)! But I love Samantha Brown and I love Europe so... :)

OK - am I in the twilight zone here? I have carefully read the first 3 posts -- and have absolutely NO idea what gusto and mat003 are talking about.

Who said anything negative, overdramatic, uncivilized or ugly?

Plus gusto dragged up this 2 month old thread to post his comments -- huh????

jlm_mi Jun 13th, 2005 06:36 AM

Looks to me like gusto was responding to P_M's comment "I never cared much for Samantha Brown" . . .

and mat003 was responding to gusto.

Why gusto bothered I'm sure we'll never know.

We've been enjoying and taping the show (I'm a week or more behind now). What I find a little odd is that she takes you inside her hotel room. I suspects this allows her to get the rooms comped), but looking at one hotel room in a city is not very helpful unless you were particularly curious about that hotel and, perhaps, that particular hotel room (which is unlikely).

Oh, I don't know about that, gusto, I think Ian is kind of cute!

P_M Jun 13th, 2005 08:07 AM

Geez, where is the crime in saying that I never cared much for Samantha Brown? Is that really such a harsh comment? We all have our opinions, and I don't think my comment was ugly or uncivilized at all. Thanks to those of you who are intelligent enough to see that.
