Passport and Airline Ticket Last Name Space Issue

Is it going to be a problem if my passport has a space in our last name (it legally does its Van W-----) but my airline tickets don't? I am using points to buy my tickets and the booking site won't let me put a space in the last name and it lumps it all together. I am flying from Chicago to Germany and back and using Lufthansa and United Airlines. Thanks for any help with this issue.

It should not.

Had a similar issue when booking a One World FF mile trip with my sister. The system would not accept her first name Anne-Marie with hyphen. Had no problems on any of the 8 legs we flew ( only with my sister when I first showed her the ticket and thought I had spelt her name incorrectly)

We had no issue with "Mcc" on the ticket vs. the correct "McC" on the Passport. TSA must get this all the time.
