Passion Play

I have heard of the Passion Play, which only performs every 10 years. Do you know what the play is about?

Yes, it is the enactment of the Passion of Jesus Christ. Enacted every year on Passion Sunday in Christian churches around the world, and every to years in Oberammergau in Bavaria.

A written version can be found in the bible at John 13-18.

If you're not religious enough to now what it's about I doubt you would enjoy attending - since it's extremely expensive and inconvenient to organize.

spoiler alert: If you don't know how the story turns out then don't read the next several chapters of the bible after John 18.

nytraveler, I assume the ny stands for New York, which answers my questions as to why you would be so rude to someone who was just curious. I am religious and was just wondering about this play. You sir can pound sand.

"Enacted every year on Passion Sunday in Christian churches"

Oh no it isn't.

The Vatican might think it can tell us how to use our language. But in English, Passion Sunday has always been the FIFTH Sunday of Lent - and that's what Britain's Reformed churches - as well as just about every Catholic in Britain, because we don't let Rome push us about any more than the Prods do - still call it.

The Passion is read on PALM Sunday (the sixth Sunday of Lent) and Good Friday. And when we want the Vatican's advice on how to speak English, we'll let it know.

I wouldn't suggest it holds its breath.

I attended in 1960 when I was 12 years old. I remember the benches back then were very hard. My mother recently sent me a box of "stuff" from our family travels in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. My ticket stub from the play was in the box.
