Passau to Prague or Munich
 

We are 4 people getting off a river cruise at Passau in November 2011. We would like to visit both Munich and Prague before returning to the U.S. . Would we be better off going Passau to Munich and then Munich to Prague; or Passau to Prague and then Prague to Munich?

I would prefer to use train service if possible but the bit of research I've done so far indicates that Passau to Prague can be a 7 to 8 hour train ride with multiple trains and long wait in between.

Passau to Prague can be done in 5:30 with one change at Regensburg.

09:24 - 14:54 daily.

Passau to Munich is a tiny push on the accelerator. I love that Autobahn. ;-) If you want to take the train, that's your fault, the Autobahn is a good as it gets!

Not sure about the weather [snow] in November, but Prague is a bit over three hours by car from Passau. You also have the option of visiting Cesky Krumluv. Munich is just under five hours drive from Prague. We have driven these routes, but it was in the summer and we had no weather problems. How many days do you have for these two cities? There's a MC Donalds/Mc Cafe at Wörth/Isar about halfway. You can use that as a pit stop. 1h 15 min with stop at a decent speed is my best time so far. :-), but I'm rather slow.
