Paros or Naxos?
If you had to choose, would it be Paros or Naxos and why? We are planning a Greek island trip, and are definitely going to Crete and Santorini, but we can't decide on a third island. We would have 4 nights to spend there and are looking for a mix of beaches and sightseeing.

Difficult choice. I haven't been to Naxos in several years, but I went to Paros last May. I loved it. It's big enough for some exploring, has some lovely beaches, and the port town of Paroikia is lively without being too overly-touristic.

Tough call, but no wrong decision. I'm a bit partial to Naxos because of the diversity of experiences, mostly the range from charming mountain villages to the secluded beaches, plus the whole ``quiet side'' of the island. Plus the local products on Naxos -- Kitron, Naxos cheese and Fish 'n Olives ceramics, are big draws.
The Naxos scenery is a bit more dramatic and there are fun sites such as the kouros. Really, tho, you can't go wrong on either isle. If you're into exploring, both islands are better prowled by car. Both are far different experiences than Santorini or Crete. |
Thanks so much. I think I'll let my husband decide because I just can't make up my mind!

My wife and I have been to Paros three times and quite enjoyed it however we love Naxos. It has great beaches includign a good one right at the main town. The town is interesting to explore with museums, a fortress tavernas and shopping.
There are several antiquities and peacefull villages out in the countryside. |
