Parma or Modena?

We have 3 nights to spend in either Parma or Modena and prefer not to stay in Bologna although going for a day is a possibility. Any thoughts on which city is better? For October 2024.

While I enjoyed both towns, I liked Parma more.

For me, Parma is nicer. But it always depends on the area within the town.
Parma is fine for day trips by train to 5Terre, Cremona, Milan.
Modena is better for Mantova, Verona, Bologna

Thanks neckervd. It's worth having a full day (2 nights) in Parma though? I haven't read the trip report above yet, but I will.
