parking venice

last year we went to venice and parked in the parking lot that was in Venice, and we are driving again this year and we are looking to park outside Venice and take the train in. Any suggestions to make this easy?

amy, thanks

Try parking in Maetre (sp)and take the bus in.

Thank you, I will check on that. Any thoughts on how safe the car will be? We are purchasing a BMW in Munich so it is our own car that we are driving. Thanks! amy

If you did not feel safe parking in Venice, I'm guessing that you did not park in the Tronchetto garage. If I were driving a new BMW, I would not park anywhere else but the Tronchetto, including Mestre. The Tronchetto garage is on the right on the end of the causeway to Venice.

Oh, thanks for that information. It seemed that we waited in line to park in that garage for about 2 hours last time so we were trying to avoid the long wait. Is the long wait usual or did we just hit it at bad time/date?
I appreciate the suggestion.
amy
