Parking in Rome

I will have a car traveling in Italy but do not want to drive in Rome. As I will be driving up from Naples, I was thinking about parking the car at the Fiumicino airport (have to go there eventually to meet some friends who will be joing me) and taking bus/train/taxi into Rome for my 4 day visit. Any other suggestions? Or does anyone know if you can park for 4 days at the airport in Rome

I don't know of any airport that doesn't offer parking, so that idea might work.

Here's another idea, maybe it's good, maybe not but I'll throw it out there anyway. How about turning in the car when you arrive in Rome and get a new one when you leave? This will save you parking fees and 4 days of rental for a car you are not using.

Just an idea, some food for thought. :-)

There are a couple of enormous parking lots on the outskirts of Rome that we used a few years ago. They were right AT metro stops, so it was easy to get into the city and back to the car. They weren't cheap, but I'd bet they're less than parking at the airport. They were on the south side of the city - sorry, but that's all I remember.

If you go to www.atac.roma.it, click on "Parcheggi e strisce blu", then on "Parcheggi a scanbio", you will get a map of the Metro stops that have parking lots.

I have no idea how long one can park at these lots or how much it costs.

I parked a car for about four days at the Rome airport in the long term parking. There is a taxi line nearby so we negiotated a ride into town before we got in his car.

Thanks all for the suggestions. I found a website for parking at the airport in Rome for 7E a day - might do that or as suggeted turn in the car and rebook when we are ready to leave. It would save a us a few bucks.
