Parking in Pisa
My wife says if we park the car in Pisa with our suitcases it will be broken in to. Comments?

I can understand being nervous about that no matter where in the world you are (not only in Pisa). Best bet would be to keep your suitcases are in an enclosed trunk or under a protective cover if you have a hatchback. Have a great trip!

If you can't avoid parking with luggage, choose a space where you can back in against a wall so that the lift gate of the car will not have easy access. If the luggage is not visible you shouldn't have a problem. Good luck, Deborah

maybe yes, maybe no! and yes, keep the things in trunk or protective cover as mentioned above. DOn't leave a MAP out in the car,,,, and I've heard to buy a local newspaper and leave that out,,,.
We were in Pisa briefly a few years ago, 3 or 4 hours,,,middle of day & drove around and found a parking space along a side street a couple of blocks from the Tower. Car had a some things showing,, and I was a little nervous,, but it worked out fine,,,and there was no trouble. ... There are so many cars lining the streets, and with traffic and people milling around, the odds are ~~~that your car will be fine.Just get out, walk down the street like you know what you are doing or look like you live in Pisa. :):):) |
It can happen anywhere.
To be safe you need to: Make sure there is NOTHING in the car - everything must be locked in the trunk when you leave wherever in the morning. Park in a place with staff if at all possible. If not park in a place with a lot of foot traffic - and try to park with the trunk against a wall or a tree - anything that would block easy access to it. |
Make sure that 'perfect' parking space is not inside the city's ZTL.
