Advice on travel and medical insurance abroad when traveling pregnant
I'm going to be traveling in the Czech Republic and Austria during weeks 18-20 in my pregnancy (around 5 months). I am looking for recommendations on travel and medical insurance in case a complication arises before or during the trip.
So whether or not it was related to a pregnancy, if you looked into either of these types of insurances when traveling I'd appreciate your insights into what to look for in a policy and companies who offer good plans.
Thanks in advance!

You must buy the insurance within 10-14 day (depending upon policy) of making downpayment for trip to be eligible for coverage for pre-existing condition. Not sure how this would work re pregnancy, but you need to talk to the provider.
Go to www.insuremytrip.com for comparisons of policies, but even with that, you need to make a phone call for your special situation.

I also think you need to be calling some of the plans you pick out, just narrow it down to 2-3 with the features you want and at the best price. Be sure to pay attention to the pre-existing conditions time period and buy it when appropriate (some plans will never allow that to be waived, but most do if you buy it within 10-14 days of your first trip payment AND you were able to travel at that time). For example, if you bought a trip and wanted trip insurance to cover cancellation even though at the date you paid for it, you were feeling sick enough or had problems so that you couldn't travel, you were just hoping you'd be able to in 3 months and figured you wouldn't be out anything because the insurance would cover you, that would not qualify.
But different insurance plans probably have different language on what they cover about complications of pregnancy. I know Travelguard, for example, will cover some things related to that (such as maybe nephritis or even an emergency C-section), but they won't cover morning sickness, pre-eclampsia or false labor, among other things. Basically, it doesn't cover management of a difficult pregnancy, more or less.
HOwever, I also don't really know if that covers complications to pregnancies, which is why you need to ask.
