PARKING IN PARIS

Driving into Paris for 3 days next week (I know it's not the best idea, but we have to). Don't plan on driving during our stay. Can't find a reasonable hotel that offers parking, so does anyone have an alternative idea? Perhaps parking (safely) on the outskirts and train/cab in?

There are plenty of public car parks in the centre of Paris where you could leave your car for three days. Depending on the location of your hotel (fairly central I imagine) you should never be more than a 10 to 15 minute walk from one.

From my experience the cost is likely to be a little steep, but not exorbitant, and personally I'd prefer to have my car close by, rather than having to schlep out to the outskirts where I've left it unattended for three days.

Also, what do you qualify as reasonable? Is it based on cost or amenities?

For my trip in May I have done some research into this. Although I finally decided not to take the car, but go by train.

If I would bhave taken the car, I would have stayed in the following hotel: http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/ex/1/en/hotel/parlv

Near the peripherique, but wihtin the Paris city limits. Cloes to the metro and reasonable parking fees.

You haven't stated what you think "reasonable hotel" means in terms of price nor how much you want to spend on parking per day nor where you would like to stay in Paris nor when you will be in Paris.

Hotel des Grandes Ecoles in the 5th is reasonably priced (IMHO) and has private parking at 30 Euro per day.

Driving into and out of Paris is not really difficult, particularly if you avoid rush hour. This is not the same as driving around Paris which is really unnecessary and daunting for anyone.

Here is a list of parking facilities, there are a good number of underground garages all over Paris:

Adjectives such as best and reasonable are virtually without value unless you clarify with a specific amount in euros.

If all else fails, the Ibis Bastille Opera near the Marais has a parking garage. I'm not sure what they charge, but the room rates are usually reasonable (around 90 euros a night). I like this hotel. It's bare-bones but offers everything you need.
