Parking in Nice
We will be in Nice for 6 nights from 25 June this time for the first time with a car. staying at Mercure Promenade on the Anglaise Boule. I know there is a public car park nearby, but do any fodorites have any suggestions for street parking or any where else less expensive than the 18E per day quoted to me?
Thankyou .
Thankyou .

There are 2 parking lots--at least--near that end of the Promenade des Anglais. One is the large sunken one beneath the Cours Saléya; the other is an off-the-street lot a few blocks down. If you are in Nice on a Sunday, street parking should be free, as is is (or used to be) during the 12-3 lunch hour. You could certainly ask your hotel for less expensive lots that could be reached by bus; I think there is one at the train station but don't remember the others. Closer in there is a good-sized lot near the Modern Art Museum.

Thankyou "nytraveler" and "underhill" for your genuine and valuable responses. Underhill I have read many of your replies and always find them informative and useful.
As for "rhkkmk " it would be best to not waste the limited brain cells you no doubt possess for more basic tasks, like breathing, rather than posting asinine and self indulgent attempts at humour. Also dear "rhkkmt" do you know that sarcasm is the product of a feeble mind.

I read no sarcasm in rhkkmk's post. Many people recommend parking on the outskirts of a city and using public transport to get inside. Driving deep into the heart of Nice at the beginning of high season may illustrate the value of such advice.

I agree. I don't think that was a sarcastic suggestion at all. I was going to say more or less the same thing. 18e doesn't sound too bad to me either for city parking, but if you don't plan to use the car at all while you're in Nice, perhaps park it in Villefranche-not far away & easily accessible & maybe cheaper.

.....As usual, Underhill is correct -
there is a large parking garage attached
to the Ibis hotel next to the train
station.
Perhaps a check on the Ibis website
would give you the price.
From the hotel it's about a 10 min walk
to the 'main' attractions.
