Parking in London..HELP!

Hi, can anyone advise of overnight parking in the Bayswater/Hyde Park area. We are staying in a hotel with a full car park and have been quoted anything between £90-£140 from BCP/various other carparks. Alternatively, can you recommend a 24hr car park near a tube station on the outskirts north west London? Thanks alot x

Go to www.ncp.co.uk, then to the car park finder. Input your hotel's postcode.

Try as I might, I can't find anywhere round W2 costing more than £22 a day.

Zoom out and scroll up for suburban car parks. Harrow on the Hill, for example, though messy to get to from the M1, is £15 for 5 days.

Now you know why we don't recommend having a car in London

Sorry - I thouhgt you were saying 90 to 140 pounds PER NIGHT and was thinking that was awfully stiff. But if that's for the whole visit - someone mentioned 22 pounds per night - that seem perfectly reaasonable for the center of a large city. It wouldn't be any less here.

Would it make more sense - assuming this is a rental - to turn it in and then rerent you leave London?

Marty, if its a rental car, have you considered leaving the car back while you are in London?

Alternatively, have you checked out the cost of the long-term car parks at LHR or LGW (for example, long-term car park at LHR is: 1-4 days: £15.40 per day. 5 days and over: £14.90 per day (for all days). You can them take the Express trains or underground to London.

Check out the following for more details (Choose an airport, chosse "to and from airport, choose "parking options).

If you're a tourist basing yourself in London, and intending to only see Central London attractions on a daily basis, then there is no need for you to hire a car.

If you drive anywhere in Central London you are likely to be paying out for the congestion charge, daily parking rates (up to about 6GBP an hour on the street, and 15GBP for up to four hours in a carpark), and also overnight parking...although it is free to park on the street on single yellow lines from 6.30pm until 8.30am avoiding the need for NCP type carparks.

The area you're planning to stay in is NOT subject to the congestion charge at present (but will be from mid-Feb 2007). And it's easily accessible from NW England without going through a CC area.

Re the Congestion Charge: That area is not in the charging zone at present, but if you are hiring a car, one assumes you will be wishing to pass through Central London where you will end up hitting this zone.
