Parking in Como - a solution

The last month or so everyone has been talking about the changes being imposed with regard to parking in Como as well as the introduction of new car free/limited zones or ZTL.

On top of everything else a number of streets, where there is parking available to non-residents, have seen increases in the hourly tariff. There are a few places (such as down by the Air Hangar on the lake) where it is still possible to park for 12 hours for only 3 Euros but these spots get taken very early in the morning.

The solution - park at Tavernola and take one of the regular boats from the Tavernola pier to Como. The parking at Tavernola is free and the boat only costs 1.30 Euros one way or an easy 20 minute walk to Como passing through the grounds of Villa Olmo.

The parking at Tavernola is next to the traffic lights between Villa Flori and the big roundabout before you arrive at Cernobbio. At the traffic lights turn right if coming from the direction of Cernobbio and then immediately right. Many parking spots are covered so your car will not heat up too much.
