Parking in Cesky Krumlov

We would like to spend one night at the Travellers hostel in Cesky Krumlov but they don't have parking. I was just wondering if parking in the town for one night (May 29) would be difficult? Can you park on the street for a whole day and night for free, and if so would it be hard to find a space?

I thought the city center was closed to car traffic...

Here's a quote I found on virtualtourist.com by doing a yahoo search:

If you drive, park in one of the parking lots around the edge of town - it would be very difficult and not fun to maneuver a car through Cesky Krumlov's very narrow, cobblestoned streets. It's just a small village, so you can park at the edge of town and walk into the center easily.

if the hostel has an email address they may be able to advise you on the closest place to park.

There's a muni park lot just outside town...which means about 600' from the square. Short walk, maybe 7 minutes. The only problem is the cobblestones. But then, we didn't go there for the macadam.

One of the numerous reasons to like http://www.barbakan.cz/indexen.htm - - park right at their front door - - essentially just (barely) inside Cesky Krumlov (the charming old center part, that is).

Best wishes,

Rex

When we stayed in CK we were tight in the heart of the old city which is supposed to be closed to autos. However, we were told to just drive right in and park behind the place we stayed--(Na Louzna??? sp???

Hi
we stayed at a small hotel in Ceskey Krumlov about 4 yrs. ago. It was a small hotel in the center. The hotel provided us with a paper permit to park in the center overnight. we were given a new one each day with the date on it. The parking was by the river near a boat rental. It was down the stree from the hotel. Other parked there also, if they had a permit. very convenient location.. I can't remember the name of the hotel except that it was above one of the shops on the ground floor and we had our own key to get in a nights.. It was run by a couple who was very friendly, but spoke no English. We were able to communicat with some German.
