Parking in Bellagio
 

Any experience with parking in Bellagio? Specifically, near the Hotel Florence. I know the Hotel Belvedere has parking, but we will have our dog with us and I don't believe they accept pets; the Florence does (also, I stayed at the Florence before and really enjoyed it). We will be there over a long weekend in early October. I have emailed the Florence about parking and am waiting to hear from them, but as I recall, they don't have their own parking spaces, we would be dependent on "regular" street parking. I know it's way in advance, but the best rooms at the Florence get snapped up quickly, especially for week-ends, so we'd like to get things sorted soon.

We were in Bellagio, in 2004 at the Grand Villa Hotel Serbelloni for 4 days. I believe the Florence was right next door and looked charming & wonderful. If you are concerned parking on street, you could always park at Serbelloni, approximately 32EUR/night. Enjoy your trip.

Thanks, Isabelle, for that suggestion...when I hear from the Hotel Florence, I will ask them if they don't have parking (as I think is the case), could they arrange for us to park at the Serbelloni. For a fee of course. 32 euro per night sounds pretty reasonable, given that parking spaces are at a premium in Bellagio.
(Yes, the Serbelloni is next door...being able to park in their lot would be great.)

I was in Bellagio in October and noticed that there were more parking spots in the evening when the day trippers left.

I don't think that you should have much of a problem at that time of year. Even if there is no parking along the lake when you arrive check the next street up the hill, behind Hotel Florence. You can then move your car to lake front that evening.

We hope to return with our adult children next fall. What were the rates at the Hotel Florence? We liked Serbelloni, but thought that the Florence looked to be a good value plus charmining and a perfect location.

Interesting story. We stayed at Hotel du Lac in Bellagio, when we booked they said they had only a few parking places available, but we asked them to reserve us one which they did. When we arrived they handed us a little paper with a map showing the private garage we had, and gave us a key to the garage. The row of individual one car garages was at the top of the town, a few blocks walk. We opened it with the key and locked our car in there never to be touched during our several days in Bellagio. We had never asked the cost and were holding our breath. When we settled our bill there was nothing for the garage. I opened my mouth and asked about the charge for the garage and the girl said, "oh there's no charge. It's just that we only have a few garages so the first people to reserve them get them." Nice touch!

I believe we'll be paying somewhere in the region of 200 euro per night for one of their best doubles with full lake front views and (small) balcony. That rate includes breakfast. I'm hoping it's cool enough in the evenings for them to use the fireplace in the lounge.
I also hope they'll still be using their lakeside terrace restaurant across the street from the hotel, but I think it will probably be too late in the season. It's absolutely perfect for lunch on a warm afternoon. I had a delicious meal there last year, even better than at the much praised Bilacus.

Hotel Florence closes their restaurant October 1. I tried to eat there and that's what I was told. I didn't see them serving any food/drinks lunchtime either although other hotels and cafes along the waterfront were serving (propane heaters kept the chill away).

We will arrive on Sept. 30, driving down from the Austrian Alps. So perhaps we'll be able to squeeze in one last meal before they close the kitchen.

During our stay at Hotel Florence we were advised of parking locations which seemed like they would be really far away. Then we walked back to the car and it was only about 3 blocks! We loved Hotle Florenc and the lakeside restaurant, as well.

I just confirmed our hotel booking with the Florence--a large, lakeview double. :-)
FYI, the hotel restaurant will probably be open through Oct. 2 this year, as the 2nd is a Sunday. So we may eat there Friday and Saturday and dine at Bilacus on Sunday.
