Parking in Aix

In case we decide to go to Aix for our last day in June (a Sunday), can anyone tell me whether parking will be a problem? Any specific places that you recommend to park? Also, should we try to drop off our luggage at the Marseille airport hotel before we go to Aix (seems like a pain) in fear of having our car broken into?

Or take the short train ride from Marseille to Aix and don't worry about the car.

Thanks, Bob. Don't think we want to go into Marseille itself. But there are frequent buses from the airport. It might make sense to take one of those.

Although there are plenty of underground parking garages and plenty of electronic signs to tell you how many spaces are available in each, I think the idea of dumping the stuff and the car at the airport and taking the bus has merit. They are frequent, though what I think of as the "new" bus terminal is about two blocks farther from the center of things than the old one was.

I tend to park in the Parking Mignet. Its easy to get to when coming into town from Marseille. Its just off the blvd de Roi Rene on blvd malherbe. Its underground and secure so you dont have to worry about your stuff. I have driven many many times into Aix and have had zero probs. You dont have to bend to the schedule of the bus when you have your own car.

See below for a list of parking lots in Aix.

good luck on that -- The parking lot right near the main bus station often has places when the ones more central do not, so I've used it. It's not too far away. The ones right in town can often be completely full in summer (I would think especially on Sunday in June, with tourists, but I'm just speculating). You can just drive around and around, though, if they are full, at least it's not too big.

The bus sounds good to me. I was there a week with a car in July a few years ago, and there weren't plenty of spaces available many days in the garages, at least not in the ones nearest the main fountain/tourist office or train station.

I've parked many times in Aix and yes they can get full around lunch time and onward. Best to arrive in the morning. Never ever ever had a problem getting a space in Mignet in the AM.
