Park and Ride outside of Munich for Oktoberfest
We're heading from Salzburg to Frankfurt and want to stop in Munich for a few hours for Oktoberfest. It will be on the first Monday after Oktoberfest starts, around mid-day, so I'm hoping it won't be as crazy as going on a Saturday night. We'll be driving a rental car but I'd like to find a Park + Ride facility outside of the Umweltzone and take public transit to get to Theresienwiese. Any suggestions on which Park + Ride facility to use based on the direction we're coming in from and headed to afterwards and what will be most convenient?

Here's a comment from TripAdvisor which might be helpful
Parking on park- and ride parkings is not permitted over night. Only during the operating hours of public transport.
However you can park on th street.
But this might be a little more comlicatded as there aren't to many places to park near Heimeranplatz. Better would be a little further out of the center, eg at the U5-stop Friedenheimer Strasse. Safety is no issue no matter if day or night.

That's pretty easy.
Most S-Bahn stations outside of Munich have Part + Ride lots.
From exit 18 of A99 motorway you get to either Vaterstetten or Haar S-Bahn stations really quickly.
Parking is sometimes free, sometimes requires a nominal fee (like 1 euro per day).
If you use either Haar or Vaterstetten, take any Munich bound S-Bahn till you get to Hackerbrücke, from where you walk in 10 minutes to the Oktoberfest grounds.

Many suburban S-Bahn stations havew Park and Ride lots and there is an S-Bahn station just a short walk from the Octoberfest Fairgrounds sight - the last S-Bahn stop when traveling from the east before Munich Hauptbahnhof (Hbf) if I recall rightly - so do a park and ride on that major S-Bahn line - the further out the more likely for S-Bahns to have P + R signs signalling park and ride lots.
