ParisSnooze: Dog Cemetery?

Several years ago i traipsed out to the Cimetiere des chiens, or whatever it's proper name is. It's in gritty Asnieres, on the Seine near the famous rail bridge there.

Inside were the tombs and graves of many beloved departed pets - inlcuding, surprsingly, Rin Tin Tin ("ran tan tan&quot

But later i read that the cemetery had financial problems or whatever and was closed to visitors.

Has anyone been to this to me bizarre cemetery lately - is it open routinely. Thanks

I have never been there, but I do know that it was saved financially.

Near the railroad bridge....? Sad but I'm sure many wouldn't care.

Well, when you consider that the Montmartre cemetery, full of celebrities, is crossed by a major road on a bridge, I'm not too worried about a pet cemetery being near a bridge.

I was just giving a reference point for the Asnieres location - it isn't exactly under or even in proximity to the bridge but not far from it -i walked from Ansieres train station.

I remember the cemetery - and it was years ago and i had read about it in the Guide Routard - as being very Parisian in terms of lavishing tombs and stuff on pets - the inscriptions are rather maudlin.

I'll go back this winter and give a report.

Wolf, wolf!

Kerouac, I am certain that you "worry" about very little.

You are correct. And I have paid dearly for it in the past.
