Paris - why do you do this to me?
 

We are leaving for Paris in a week. We have been once in April, once in May, and two years ago in June. I am not sure we have ever seen the sun in Paris. My impression is of a cool/cold windy cloudy place. I thought, perhaps this year? But it looks like the forecast is for cool and cloudy with some rain. (In contrast to our other trips - to Italy, where the weather has always been gloriously warm and sunny) Bye bye sundresses and strappy sandals! This post is a bit tongue in cheek - but really, just once, sun????!!!!!

Yeah the weather has really been rubbish this year - its supposed to rain in London for another month at least - YUCK!

We were there in March this year and it rained most of the time—and to make matters worse my husband had a bad headcold—what can you do :(

We've been there for all the weather you describe==and then for a week with our adult kids and we had ONE day of rain in the evening. Every other day bright sun!! It is what it is, but one thing for sure--it is still Paris!!

Two years ago we were there in late March for a week. We had light rain, hail, snowflakes, sun and a rainbow!

Just keep going. Once you get to about 30 trips or so, you get sun. After 50, even more sun. At 100, you've had plenty of sun (plus snow and sleet and hail and everything else).

Keep watching the forecast until the day before you leave---it may change.

Last Sept. I had all my sweaters & rain-gear packed as I was watching Intellecast. The night before we left, I was throwing out all of that & repacking with short sleeve shirts, even leaving my rain jacket at home. Thankfully so, it was the warmest, sunniest trip we ever had. We're heading back for our 9th time this Sept. and hoping for more of the same.

That said, we have taken some of our lovliest photos of Paris at night in the rain. Hopefully, you'll get some sun but if this is your 4th trip you'll still have plenty of museums & shops to check out.

In future, would you please keep us informed when you plan to go so we can schedule a different month?

Perhaps we were lucky, but our visit of 20 - 27 May corresponded with generally fair and warm weather. But that is not what the forecasts predicted. I'd take them with a grain of salt and expect 70ish in the daytime and mid-50s at night.

We went the last weekend in March last year, and it was warm (70 F) and sunny every day for the week we were there. Young office workers were eating lunch on every available horizontal outdoor surface along the Canal Martin. Now of course in 1st and the 6th, les becs fins were all in scarves and coats because it was not the right time on the calendar to change wardrobes.

We go every other year, mostly in May and June or October and November and have been blessed with lovely weather almost all the time. G-d's gonna get me for writing that!

You certainly never know what you're going to get! We were there in mid-late May this year, and had one day that just poured, where we needed trench coats/rain coats as well as a light scarf for me & an umbrella. By the end of the week though, it was hot & sunny (mid-80s) and I was in a tank top, skirt & sandles. I'll never go to Paris without a few scarves - regardless of what the forecast says! I always need them...

Cheer up. You could be stuck somewhere really boring and it could still be raining!

Every one of our 8 trips (May, June, September and October) has had good weather. We're returning next May - hoping this pattern changes by then. Good luck for your trip.

We were there for 2 weeks in early May. Before we left the extended forecast was wretched. We did have cooler weather than we planned on and occasional rain but, overall, good weather. I think, when we look at the 10 day forecast and see all those rainy days, we forget that the rain may only last a short time during the day. Hope the forecast changes for you!!

Thanks for the encouragement! Perhaps we will have luck this time and see the sun! I know that packing layers is key. Last trip I was in Monoprix buying long sleeve t-shirts and socks because I was so cold - in June!

Well, first of all Paris is not always cool and rainy. I have been several time in June and July and had temps above 90 with a blazing sun.

That said - you are north of the Alps and the weather is completely different from Italy and always will be. In fact, paris is quite warm for how far north it is (the Gulf Stream makes much of western europe much warmer than you would expect based on latitude).

Just returned from 6 days in Paris. Mostly good weather, but some rain some of the days, and cooler than we anticipated most days. Still, rain in the forecast doesn't necessarily mean it will rain all day. We altered our plans to enjoy museums and shopping on rainy days. And Paris is still Paris! Everywhere we went, people complained about the cooler and rainier than normal spring...

I'm also heading to Paris in a week and watching the weather forecasts. Packing, of course, for layering. I'll pick up an umbrella once there as I like to travel light. I've been to Paris three times in May when twice it was cold and wet. The third time in May it was 90 and humid; fortunately, our hotel room was air conditioned. I felt sorry for the locals because many of the shops and homes do not have air conditioning. The best weather I experienced there was during September when there were clear, blue skies and temps in the 70s. Here's hoping we both get beautiful weather while we're there.

Our pre-trip extended forecast called for rain every day and temps in the low 60s/high 40s. But we only had one really ugly day, which we unfortunately chose to spend at Monet's garden's :/ (which was awesome). It was the same day the new French President paraded down Champs Elysees... I checked the forecast the night before on my iphone and we'd bundle up or not accordingly. We used the umbrellas two or three times in 9 days and had sun every day but it was cold. Pretty perfect weather in my opinion! Hoping for the same for you!

Going in mid-August. Hoping there is no heatwave!
