paris, when to go?

Am planning a trip with my mother-when would be the best time to go? Late April/Early May or the fall-Sept/Oct. I know May is better that April, but what time of the fall is best. Thanks for you insight.

Cindyanderson - My first trip to Paris was in September and absolutely lovely weather. I was there for 12 days and only experienced rain for about 3 hours. The other two trips to Paris were the 1st week of May.

We returned to Paris for a single night before flying home one year on October 1. I thought we'd freeze to death. Not that freezing would be the norm. I'd stick with September personally, but I have an aversion to cold weather. And I think there's less chance of rain in September?

Hi C,

Beginning of April can be cold and drizzly or very nice. The chestnut trees will be in bloom.

I think that Mid Sept-Mid Oct has the nicest weather and the cepes mushrooms are in season.

I was in Paris the first time in mid September and the weather was just fabulous. Was there the second time, the first week in June and it was hot and sticky for two days, then turned colder, cloudy, and rained every day, BUT, not all day. Was just there the first of November last year and I liked the weather. We had sun, we had clouds, no rain except for one night and it stopped by morning. It was pretty cold, but I actually prefer cold to heat. That mid September weather was just the best though.
