Thanks travelnut. I have seen so many video clips about the catacombs over the years, and it is so interesting. I have not seen anything about them being closed, and they are constantly recommended on this board. If you find out that they are, please post that!
Thanks!

I saw this post on R.S. forum:
"Paris Catacombs
The Catacombs in Paris are closed from Nov 1 to May 1. The Paris book doesn't mention this. We found out the hardway on Nov 3.

In October, I saw signs along ave du Gen Leclerc mentioning (I think) that the bus lane was being upgraded (something like that), which may or may not be related to the catacombs being closed until May. (unless it is true every year...don't know).

There is actually a book titled exactly that...If you visit amazon.com it should be easy to find & it lists maybe 100 things many which you will enjoy as well. Some are fairly obvious, many are not. My daughter is a big fan of the merry-go-rounds & there are many parks you can take advantage of. Paris also has a fine zoo which we stumbled across our last trip as well.

Climb aboard the driverless No. 14 Metro line and put your children right behind the window of the first car, where they can see the track rushing at them! Kids also like to stand at the car junctions on the No. 1 line (inside the train) on the floor plates that shift as the train goes around curves.

I just saw your post regarding Muse Clues. My son, 11 years old ,enjoyed the tour very much. Ellen, our guide is an American art historian, living in Paris working on her doctoral thesis. She took him through history, staring with Egyptian art and we made it up to Italian Renaissance. At several points during the tour he would have to answer a written question, based on clues and find the answer within the Louvre. The answer would then have corresponding letters which spelled out the final clue at the end of the tour. It was a french phrase which he then had to repeat to an employee of the Louvre to claim his prize- which was a CD on Art of the Louvre. The three hours went by very quickly and my son's interest was peaked most of the time. All in all, to us it was very much worth it,(it is expensive). We had taken him on a similar tour of the Vatican 2 years ago, and he still remembers a lot of the facts he learned then. If your son is at all interested in history through art, I think he will love it. Ask for Ellen.
