Paris wardrobe - early November
We've traveled a bit - spent time in Rome in the early spring, and wore jeans and nice boots with blazers, or layered shirts/sweaters. Not sure what will be acceptable in Paris - is it more "formal" in there? Of course not jeans for nice restaurants, but how about for daytripping in the city and seeing museums, etc?

I don't believe Paris is more formal than Rome. No one cares what tourists wear to go around sightseeing in the daytime, really. There is no dress code at museums.

We usually travel during the fall and winter and I like to take thin sweaters, like a cashmere/silk blend. That way you can put a long sleeved T under it and a jacket or coat on top. Layer, layer. You never know how cool it will be.

hi, scdreamer,
there is a similar thread going about clothes to wear to italy. please don't worry about what the parisians are wearing or thinking about what you wear - they don't care. really they don't. dress for your own comfort and pleasure. regards, ann |
If you were comfortable in those clothes in Rome in early Spring - you'll need about the same wardrobe in Paris in the Fall. Just maybe a bit heavier jacket/coat and something waterproof or a small umbrella.

Good suggestions above.
Your Rome wardrobe sounds fine. I don't think that Paris is more "formal" than Rome. A recent poll of hotel owners listed Italians as the best dressed -- so if you were comfortable in Rome, you will be in Paris. |
