Paris Visite Pass, Mobilis, Carte Orange confusion and which to choose???
I will be in Paris for one Tuesday in August and am not sure which transportation option to choose. We will be using public transit, but I'm not sure if the Paris Visite pass is a good option. I like the convenience of only having to buy one card for unlimited travel for that day, but is it really a rip-off? I have seen other options such as the carte orange and something about a navigator card/mobilis card, but you have to provide a photo with those and are they worth it? The Carte Orange is good for 10 tickets, and I think we would use them all before the day is over (we arrive at 8am and leave at 9pm). I'm totally confused and any advice would be VERY helpful!
Thanks! |

YOu have a lot of outdated or wrong info, not sure where you are getting it from (Carte Orange doesn't exist, for example and never had anything to do with being equal to 10 tickets).
Further, Mobilis doesn't require any photo. Buy it. |
If you are there for one day, why not just buy tickets for the Metro? One ticket is 1,70 and a carnet (book of 10) is 12,00.
If you are landing at CDG , get an RER ticket to central paris for 9.10 one way. www.ratp.com is the website for more details |
How many is "we"? you say "I" and then "we". If it is one day for one person the Mobilis might be a good investment since you could use it on buses as well as Metro--which the carnet tickets work also.

I haven't been able to figure this out: Will one ticket take you anywhere on the Paris metro, or does the cost depend on how far you go from one station to another? Thanks.

AS long as you can connect with another "leg" the ticket just keeps going. If you exit, you need another ticket. but you can ride forever.

One t+ ticket will take you anywhere on the métro. RER travel is included as well, but distance is limited to those stations in zone 1 (roughly central Paris).
Once you validate your ticket, you have 90 minutes to complete your trip. |
Gretchen and Sarastro - thanks for the info!
