Johanna,

then you must get Bobbi Brown's little pot of gel liner -in Chocolate Brown, you'll love it - of course there's also shimmering sapphire and 20 other colors....in florida where it's not possible to put on make-up because it rolls off your face as you're putting it on from the heat and humidity, the gel liner is the only thing that sticks.

Yes, let me know what happens when you put on that rrred lipstick. Sign of a scarlet woman ....lolololol

I did buy the gel liner, and I love it. I got it in Espresso. We must have the same taste in makeup. I also got her concealer, it works really well.

Trust me, I know all about Florida heat and humidity, I live in Pensacola. I love this time of year, my makeup stays put and I finally have good hair days!

Go contact Gerard!

Paule,

I understand your point, but Kerouac is there and I am not. It is much easier for him to call Radio France and the many divisions they have and track Gerard down than it is for me. - there is a definite language barrier.

I am an investigator and if Gerard were in America it would likely take me less than an hour on the phone to find him. Here I have an advantage. In France and French and do not.

"N'es pa? "

Is that the way you say it?

Omigosh Johanna,

You;re another Floridian !

then next year you must come to Paris with me - and we shall both walk down the street in our rrrrred lipsticks - being careful what areas we visit not to be mistaken for ladies of the night ... we may start a new trend with American women visiting Paris. Now they will no longer look for white sneakers to identify Americans - they'll look for rrrrred lipstick.

By the way, I have never seen so many jeans being worn any place as I did in Paris. they dont even wear jeans as much here !

Kerouac,

You will find Gerard's name all over the French internet. But only up to 2007, nothing for 2008.

I haven't quite figured out if he is a critic, but obviously he is a writer in addition to being a producer. Actually I dont quite understand what the producer does in France.
And he is very involved in music - I see why he wanted to know if I was Spanish because he appears to have produced some kind of Spanish flamenco music also.

I trust you will neither embarrass him nor me, and will explain what happened.
If you think parts of this "story" are appropriate, by all means , copy and paste. He has a good sense of humor -

I will attach a photo for you in case he has picked up 20 or more women since.

I really am under the impression he lives on the street (Quai) next to the Seine and which is at a right angle to St. Michel and on the left side of the bridge to rue du Palais.

He may not understand the reference to frogs. There is an American saying-joke for women " You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you meet your Prince." And so it was not meant as a derogatory reference to ze French population - after all , I am not a Brit .

If you find him I would prefer that you speak to him personally and explain rather than sending an email - if you wouldn't mind going to that trouble.

The next time I'm in Paris I shall buy you dinner, as long as it's moule or escargot

Would you like to send me your email address or ??

I will not post poor Gerard's full name here since he would then have 3000 Fodorites hunting him down

Just think of yourself as Pocahantus' John Smith.

Thank you Askar.

He is not listed in a phonebook as we established early on in the story..apparently because he is or was some kind of celebrity. The number and address listed is that of Radio France. I would have his private number if the receptionist had not mistyped it....but good try on your part.

Mayha,

Back to health issues. My husband had the procedure today. Apparently successful. He seems to be fine. Has a one night stay in hospital and all going well will be home tomorrow.

He can get back to normal after taking it quiet for another day at home.

If you have this option I would recommend it on our experience. (We will know in a month for sure if we can say he is cured).

Aussie,

I am so happy for you and your husband. When he's recovered a bit more in a couple of days, I'd be interested to know if he can feel any internal pain in the vein etc...

Where did they go in ? Vein from the leg? or the groin? or closer to heart?

Sorry to make you go through this, but whatever info you can give me is a blessing..you know - all the stuff the doctors wont tell a scaredy-cat: moi !

Mahya,

I am happy to talk about it, especially now that I can stop worrying.

He is in virtually no pain at the moment (and hopefully might not feel any).

The wires go in in the groin into a vein. They go in on both sides. Apparently my hsuband had 5 wires in him.

His was a "text book case" according to the doctor. They found the missfiring bits, fixed it, then they have to wait for half an hour and then re-test it and it apprently did what was expected. So the doctor thinks it worked.

The operation is quite long and can even be longer. Depending on where the problem is it may be necessary to search around in other cavities (is that what they are??). Some side effects that we should expect are:

skipping a beat ( bit more than normal)
maybe some pain in the heart where the muscle was burned (but in my husbands case this is unlikely).

Also if by some chance the condition does return they can always do another ablation.

Happy to answer any other questions (to the best of my limited knowledge of course)

Wishing you lots of luck.

I fully understand being nervous but the experience was all good, the success rate is extremely high (97% for this doctor) with no real major complicaitons. Of course having things anywhere near the heart a worry. Addded to my husbands case is a bad family history. His father died of a heart attack at 48 and his grandfather at 52.

Aussie,

I'm so happy for hubby and you -
That whole scenario is scary to me though. Doesnt sound like the little thing the size of a pill my cardio described !

And my sweet lil heart already skips a beat which brings the whole thing on apparently...so what good is it to me if the skipping continues I'm thinking ?

I may just elect to stay on the pills the French gave me. Was your hubby on pills before the procedure?

but I have yet to have the consult -so we'll see.

Of course it would help if I stopped smoking but I have tried accupuncture, hypnotism, and subliminal tapes so far....still puffing away

LOL

Abranz, we can't all hunt Gerard.

Next Fodorites will be walking around Paris in sandwich boards in signs saying " Gerard, Mahya is looking for you" lol -

As Nikki sarcastically said
"You sure know how to show a guy a good time" (not).

The last time Gerard saw me I looked like "Camille" and he may be frightened out of his wits. I trust Kerouac to rationally approach another Frenchman - and express what needs to be expressed.

What will be, will be.

Hi Mayha,

Yes the skipped beat does bring it on but the good news is that after the procedure the skipped beat may continue (that's pretty nortmal for everyone from time to time) but it should not bring on another attack.

Having just come back from a meeting with the people who run our anti-tobacco advertising here in Australia, I firmly say "stop smoking". However I am pretty sure that the smoking does not actually bring on your missfiring condition. It probably does you other damage though. I could give you statistics but I really don't like to preach except to my kids- and they don't listen to me anyway.

Now back to Gerard - progress?

Aussie,

<Yes the skipped beat does bring it on but the good news is that after the procedure the skipped beat may continue (that's pretty nortmal for everyone from time to time) but it should not bring on another attack. >

Now that's pretty interesting, because that is what I have tried to expain to the US docs and they just give me a blank look.

the skipped beat was your husband's experience also before the attack of sweating dizziness and tachacardia ? ?

Did he also have mitral valve prolapse ?

You have no idea how much relief you are giving to me Aussie although I still may elect the pills instead of the vein intervention.

when are you coming to Paris - we shall meet up and celebrate!

Oh yes. Gerard.

Professor Kerouac is still working on it.

We have other phone numbers and addresses and e mails (many e mail addresses for him connected to the "different
hats" he wore or wears in his work, but none of them come close to matching the erroneous phone number he left for me.

Maybe we are getting warm though.
