Paris Trip Report

I wanted to thank the forum contributors who share their knowledge and aid fellow travelers like me. I hope this short Paris report is useful to someone planning a similar trip.
We were in Paris October 7-14.
Airport transfer: Paris Shuttle provoded prompt and convenient service.
Accommodations: Rue Cler Apartment (rentalfrance.com) was a small clean apartment in a convenient location. Pascal Zytomirski was a courteous and helpful landlord.
Restaurants: I can recommend the following
Au Bon Accueil
Le Florimond
Chez L'Ami Jean
Brasserie Bofinger
All provided wonderful meals and service. Restaurant atmosphere ranged from elegant to boisterous - but always enjoyable.
Misc: Photography in Paris is a joy. certain locations (Towers of Notre Dame and Arc de Triomphe) forbid tripod use. However, I encountered no problems elsewhere. I used a tripod in the middle of Champs Elysee standing next to a policeman. He smiled and allowed me to linger as long as I wanted.
Highlights: Parisian food and Parisians. Everyone we met was kind, generous and welcoming.
Disappointments: None. Last Sunday, we left a city whose language, cultures and history are alien to us. Yet, we felt like we were leaving home. My last visit to Paris was 15 years ago. My next visit will next May. Enough said.

Is tripod use forbidden outside or inside Notre Dame? I used a tripod on our trip a few years ago at night -- but from the outside. Did I break any rules? Thanks for the trip report. I have to agree with you on Disappointments! None. Love Paris.

I could not use a tripod inside the cathedral or in the tower. Outside was no problem.

You can probably dredge up some posts that state that a use of a full tripod is illegal in France without a permit of some kind.

Hi GregP60,
I wonder if we saw each other while in Paris. We were there from the 6th through the 10th of October, staying in an apartment just one block off of the Rue Cler. We enjoyed Paris, but found it very expensive. One of the more reasonably priced items was the crepe stand on the Rue Cler. And delicious too, although I wanted a tuna, mushroom and cheese crepe and the crepe maker told me they didn't go together.

We especially enjoyed the Segway Tour we took on Sunday, the 7th. It was a beautiful autumn day and the Segways were FUN! And you don't have to be a teenager or young adult to master them. In our group of 8 people, 6 were 50's+. One of the things we were surprised at was the limited access to the internet. I thought internet stores or cafes would be numerous, but we had to search them out and they weren't cheap. Sounds like you enjoyed Paris as much as we did; I just wish the dollar was stronger!

I have now completed processing my photos from Paris and have uploaded them to the stock agency. I wanted to thank everyone, once again, for their help in planning this trip. Here is a link to the photos http://tinyurl.com/yvmkc3
