Paris Trip, Paris Perfect and Brighton Info
Just returned from 6 full days in Paris. I stayed at the Westminster-Opera. Great service. They did the sirport transportation. I arrived 1 hour early!!!
Hotel had L'Orangerie ticket for me. Was glad as the line was long and it was chilly. I had no idea that there were so many Monet panels. Two very large rooms full of them..some were about 40 ft. long!! Dined that night at the hotel's starred Celadon. Follwing day at L'Obelisque(Hotel Crillon). I liked it. I will go for dinner in Oct. Taillevent was excellent and absolute perfection. The Maitre d'hotel took care of me. We exchanged business cards and he told me to contact him for any future reservations. I will for Oct. Senderens was not a good experience..did not like decor, they were scurrying around(opposite from Taillevent, food was OK. One obviously known customer very undressed..tan cords and rust pullover shirt! Sorry, but IMO gentlemen wear coats when dining in nice places. The question comes up on this forum often, about taking a coat..wear it on plane..they will even hang it up for you!! I cancelled Dominique Bouchet fearing another Senderens experience for a small place that had been previewed for me.. Pre Sole..enjoyed it. Finally a place I always go to, Violon d'Ingres. I liked what Christian and Catherine had done. Great lunch..chatted with Christian..missed Catherine. I met with Carolyn from Paris-Perfect. I have rented the Grenache for October. I previewd the little Kir. Fine for ONE person. In the great location, of course!! Everyone write this down: ALL PP APTS. WILL BE AIR CONDITIONED BY MARCH 31, 2007!! Brighton Hotel: I previewed it. Not easily impressed, so was very surprised with what I found. All re-modeled and decorated. I looked at a huge room by anyones standards with two beds, huge windows/doors that opened up to all of Paris..Fantastic view. Huge bath, by any standards, with a tub AND separate walk-in tiled shower stall...not those tiny things. LCD TV, wi-fi etc, etc. I have this particular room reserved for April, 2008 when I am taking my granddaughter. It did take some doing to have this room "guaranteed"..as they do not guaranty a specific room! The Brighton location has Angelinas between it and Le Meurice on r, Rivoli. Great trip, great food..lots taken care of for next two trips..and believe it or not my return flight to ATL arrived one hour early!! Joan |
Joan - THANKS for the info on the Paris Perfect apartments!! That is great news!! We are staying in the Volnay late May and the no A/C thing was a concern for us. We were planning on having multiple fans on us. My husband will be SO happy!
|
Joan, Thanks also for the info on Brighton Hotel. We have reservations there for 4 nights in September. Your info made me feel even better about our plans!
|
We also have The Hotel Brighton booked for 6 nights in October. Can you give away the room number you are talking about so we could request it? The price was so good compared to others in the area I was a little worried but it sounds great!
|
I would hope that anybody willing to pay the price has the perfect Paris experience. It is only a shame when those hoping to save money have a regrettable experience, usually do to a lack of information.
|
Peggy E,
The room number that I was talking about was #314.There would be others on different floors that would have similar/same views. Enjoy..... |
Thank you GraceJoan, I appreciate the hotel info. This site has always been so helpful in planning! We will be spending 3 weeks going from Zurich to Paris (about 10 days in Provence) in October and I'm loving all the wonderful information available.
|
PeggyE,
Glad to help!! I think you will be happy at the Brighton..especially if you get that wonderful view!! I will be in Paris in Oct., but have rented a Paris Perfect apartment. I also have changed my April, 2008 from the Brighton to a www.parisianflat.com apt. when I am taking my granddaughter for her first visit to Paris. Enjoy............ |
I'm looking forward to taking my granddaughter to Paris someday, too, gracejoan, but she is still a pre-schooler. Would you mind telling me how old your granddaughter is? Just curious about what a good age is, taking into consideration that as my granddaughter ages, so do I!
|
grandmere,
My granddaughter is a college graduate now. I think a good age would be a young teenager for a glas first trip to Paris. I think their eyes would pop at that age!! |
Gracejoan3,
Good report. And I hope you'll post reports of your upcoming two trips as well! I'm thinking about staying at ParisPerfect's Kir this winter. It will be just me, and I'll be at language school during the day. Do you think it's workable for just one person? I know it's tiny, but it couldn't possibly be any smaller than the air-shaft-view single I had at Le Regent last spring. And the price is better than any of the hotels I've stayed in in the past (Henri IV, Regent and Danube). Thanks for your thoughts. |
The Paris Perfect "Kir" apartment is perfect for one person! You should really like it. The area couldn't be better..so convenient to good dining for all price ranges. Easy access to everything.
I will be spending a week in the "Kir" apt. next April, after my granddaughter leaves. I will be in their "Grenache" in October. Enjoy.............. |
I am staying in a parisian flat apartment as I write and I do have to say that Philippe has been so kind-even with some of my stupid American concerns he has been so supportive and responsive! The apartment is spacious, comfortable and in a great neighborhood location. I have A/C but don't even require it due to the current weather....
Great voyages to you and your granddaughter on your upcoming travels! I hope you enjoy parisian flats as much as I have! |
gracejoan3 -- Thanks for the quick reply. That's all I needed to hear! The minute I know which week I can go I'll send an email off to Paris Perfect.
1239 -- Hope you'll post a trip report when you return from Paris. Thanks to all. |
Our ParisPerfect experience was perfect. We rented the Pomerol and had absolutely no complaints.
We got to meet Carolyne and they even gave me a present :) so while it might have been more expensive than some rental apts, we got exactly what we were promised plus some. Violin d'Ingres is a lovely memory for us..Anniversary dinner and another time, meeting friends who were in town when we were...Christian Constant was charming, he knew our friend so there was a big wine conversation going on with our friend and my husband but today- I hardly remember the food but will always remember the night :) We hope to visit friends in London in the next year and I want to rent on of ParisPerfects London apts..look at the site..I want one! lol |
1239,
Which Parisian Flat apt. are you staying in? All my communications with them have been great. Looking forward to my stay in April. |
We rented an apt with Paris Perfect just last week. I can not say enough nice things about their very professional team. They decided after four of us had rented one of their apts ...that it was a bit tight for four. So they up-graded us for free to two bedroom/2bath with a killer view (and ac).I have rented an apt in Paris before..and a house in Provence...and a large villa in Tuscany.(with other agencies). None of those have compared to the perfect experience we had with Paris Perfect!
