Gretchen,
There seems to be a mystery here about Michael's costs. Not sure why. He is selling a service, so I think it reasonable that people here share their experience.

I seem to remember is was a couple of hundred euro for a day.

Part of planning is being able to decide, based on price, if something is even worth considering (we can do a bust tour and a Paris Walks for XX euro, or Michael for YY).

I have also heard that sometimes he can be hard to reach. Another reason to have an idea of cost...versus planning a trip, waiting to hear from someone in order to lock in a schedule.

I don't think it unreasonable to post what you did with Michael, when, and state that this tour cost XXX, but prices vary based on the content of the tour.

What is the appeal of staying in Ile St. Louis, other than staying on an island in the middle of the city? Seems like you have to walk across the river on one side or another to get to anywhere, even to the store or a cafe.

For first-time visitors, there are obvious day trips to Versailles, Chartres, maybe Reims/Epernay, not to mention Giverny, Vaux-le-vicomte, etc.

Museum pass is a good deal but it makes you work to get to all the different venues in the allotted time.

Ile St Louis is compact, almost all 17th/18th century mansions, desired location for many personalities.

It also has a small main street with all of the neighbourhood type shops...cheese store, wine, meat, chocolate, olive oil, bath products,etc.. It also has mutiple good restaurants (can't beat eating in a vaulted basement). An old church for concerts. One block away from views of Seine. Easy walk to Notre Dame.

Some very nice hotels. And because of the road layout, not much traffic on the island at night.

If Left or Right Bank interest you, one bridge away.

Some say it has a villagey feel, I'd agree.

But everything has to be overpriced relative to other options nearby.

"seem to remember is was a couple of hundred euro for a day."

More like a 100 E a day and that is for any number in the group and he'll stay out as long as you like.
