Suze: love your posts on other topics. What am I doing wrong? I think we have lots of time for soaking in the Paris experience? Where can I add/subtract?

Oh no, nothing "wrong" at all. I personally just don't like to be that busy every day when I travel. Or even have an itinerary at all. I've only been to Paris once and I made zero plans in advance. That's just me. Not a negative judgement of your ideas.

I do nap. And doing a boat tour or river cruise is the one thing I missed but would want to next time.

I have this feeling (not rational I know) that this will be my first and only trip to Paris, and I want to soak up all that I can. But I also want to sit at a cafe with a wine and watch Paris go by, and wander about the Isle la Cite to see what is interesting.

You can get your monet "fix" all over Paris--Orangerie, Marmottan. Play it loose and if you've soaked up enough of Paris, go to Giverney.

If you are a Monet fan, you must visit the Marmottan.

Oh, too bad about the tapestries. I had planned to see them, as well, in Sept. I guess I can cross off Cluny. Thanks for the information, AJPeabody.

rncheryl, To tell you the truth, I do not remember the name of the restaurant in the American Museum at Giverny. However, since the Terra family donated the museum, the name Terra Cafe makes sense.

THE REVISED PLAN:

Please review. It seems some days are too light? However, we certainly want lots of time to just stroll around.

ARRIVAL THURSDAY: Nothing changed here, except taking the Seine cruise will depend on our level of alertnes. There are other evenings which would be possibilities.

FRIDAY: No Versailles. Opera Garnier tour at 11:30. On to Montmarte. Lunch at Cafe de la Paix?

SATURDAY: This day is free; probably shopping. Delyan for lunch?

SUNDAY: Giverny with lunch at Terra Cafe.

MONDAY: Context Tour Louvre 2p. Shakespeare and Company, dinner at Le Petit Chatelet.

TUESDAY: Paris Walks Marais 10:30. Lunch Pitzman. We have tix to a Notre Dame concert at 8p.

WEDNESDAY: Saint Chappelle. Notre Dame free tour 2pm. Deportation Museum.

THURSDAY: All day trip to Normandy with Overlord Tours

FRIDAY: Muse d Orsay, Orangiere.

SATURDAY: Eiffel Tower, Rodin Museum. Rethinking our splurge dinner, it appears for E114 you get a guaranteed window seat at the restaurant in the Montparnese Tower, with the added perk of being able to see the ET.

SUNDAY: Leave for home 10am.

TTT hoping for more input

If you do end up with time on your hands my favorite things I did in Paris were:

-Visiting cafes and sidewalk bars and drinking wine from little clay pitchers or glass carafes.
-the Luxembourg Gardens
-One day when we took the metro from our hotel in the Latin Quarter, to the Eiffel Tower (didn't go up just sat on the grass), then walked our way 'home' thru the 7th, stopped for lunch at Rue Cler (by accident, we were just walking by and recognized the name from R Steves), Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysees, the Tuileries

I love Les Invalides -- both the museum and Napoleon's tomb. Not everyone's thing though. I also love the Rodin museum close by. Yours doesn't look like too hectic a schedule, but...Paris is meant of be visited with a Parisian frame of mind. Sit on a park bench eating ice cream or at a cafe table drinking wine or coffee and watch the people go by!

Paris Walks also has a Montmartre tour on Friday afternoons, which you might want to consider.

and I can vouch for Cafe de la Paix. WHAT A PEOPLE WATCH!! Eaves' dropped on an aging ballerina complaining to her agent.
Then I was off to La Madelaine an an unescourted tour of the Opera.
