Paris Trip Blog/Report

I just returned from 2 weeks in Versailles and Paris. In spite of terrorism warnings and the transit strike, we had great food, excellent shopping and superb people-watching.

For the first time, I wrote a travel blog of my trip - juliesparis.wordpress.com Blogging added a new dimension to sightseeing and dining, and I'm glad I did it.

We rented the Eiffel Studio from Vacation in Paris. I've rented from VIP twice and they're a good company to work with. The studio was very comfortable for two of us and the outdoor terrace was nice to have.

My travel companion developed a lower back problem. Rather than reschedule, she took a wheeled walker with a small seat and a storage compartment. Much to my surprise, everyone was very accomodating and we managed the metro and the busses easily. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this strategy to anyone with limited mobility.

There's more detail in the blog about sights and restaurants - juliesparis.wordpress.com

Loved your blog. Of course, you hooked me with a reference to Nancy Mitford, whom I love. I take it that as someone who loves Paris and NM, you've read The Blessing and Don't Tell Alfred.

It's a great blog, and looks like a wonderful time.

Hi Tuscanlieedit,

Thanks for visiting my blog. I started it to avoid writing multiple e-mail reports to friends and it turned out to be great fun.

I am a huge Nancy Mitford fan. I re-read "Don't Tell.." just a few months ago to get ready for the trip! (Have you read E.F Benson's Lucia novels?)

Very nice and interesting report, Julie! I loved the photos and all the comments you did.
We were in Paris in the same time, we returned on Oct. 11th. I now think that the best time to visit Paris is October!

Thanks for sharing with us your blog.

Thanks! Nicely written and plenty of "day-2-day" pics. For some reason I feel a bit hungry :)

the correct way to announce yourself at someone’s door was to scratch upon it with your pinky

I thought that was how to get an olive out of a jar!

Your writing is great fun and the pix were great. Wish we could incorporate photos with TRs here. Can you change the order of your blog entries with word press?

Thanks everyone for your positive feedback. I hope to continue juliesparis.wordpress.com with 1-2 posts per week, using stories and photos from past visits.

Valtor, I think we both got back just in time, given the strikes and fuel shortages. But I'd rather be out of gas in Paris than just about anywhere...

TDudette, I am not yet adept at wordpress so I don't know if there's a different way to order the posts. If I get some time I'll check and let you know.

Excellent work - love your style, your writing, your humour and travel philosophy! Your blog is my new favourite blog.

Hopefully you have plenty of photos and spreadsheets etc so we can all relive your trip together. Merci.

Brilliant!

Oh, wouldn't it be nice to show up at the Gare du Nord a la Linda Radlett with suitcase in hand and no money then have a French duke take one look at you and make you his mistress?

Keep posting here, pretty English lady. We need more talented writers now that the Great Brits no longer post here.

Wow - thanks for the great feedback! I am working on an update to my Gordon Ramsay lunch with pics for the foodies.

Eigasuki, there are many many spreadsheets filled with Paris info that I will draw from for future posts.

And Lizzy, I knew the moment I read "Gare du Nord" what was coming next. Why are there no Nancy Mitford newsgroups? Alas.
