Paris Transportation- Hotel near Saint Suplice Station to CDG Airport

Hello,

Here comes my next question... We have a flight out on a Wednesday morning at 8am. How early should we be at the airport - 2 or 3 hours before our flight? (It goes to Frankfurt).

That said, we will have to leave the hotel at either 4 or 5 am - what is the best way to get to the airport at this time (4 people plus luggage) - a taxi?

Any suggestions are welcome.
Thank you!

Taxi is the best as RER B doesn't run before 5am. And for 4 people price for taxi shouldn't be that much higher. However on my last trip we stayed the night before in IBIS near CDG 1 RER station (got there around 10pm) and found it to be a less stressful option than waking up in the middle of the night.

I suggest taking a taxi and arrange for a 5:00am pick up.

You can contact VictorCab ([email protected]) about arranging a transfer, or hire a shuttle service (http://airport-shuttle.com). They start operating at 05:00.

If the flight is an international flight, you'll need to be at checkin at least 2 hours before departure. If you're not a premium frequent flyer, then you may want to arrive a little earlier, before the line gets too long.

If this is the first leg of an international itinerary then the advance check in time is different than if it is the only flight you will be taking that day. Check with your airline to see what they advise.

As for transport, for four people taxi is best bet. Suggest you book in advance and specify that you are four people with luggage and request an <<espace>> vehicle so there is room for all. At that time of day the transfer should take under an hour but best to allow an hour to be safe. Taxis G7 has worked well in the past for me - phone for the English speaking line is +33 (0)1 4127 6699.

G7 http://www.taxisg7.com has also online booking and cost estimate functions. Fare from St.Sulpice to CDG @5am is estimated in 54-67€ range.

That seems a little high, but it is true the taxi fares between Paris and the airport are higher before 7 am, that's probably why it is estimated at that.

I took a taxi to the airport from a Left Bank hotel <B>several years ago</B> before 6 AM and the price was more than 60 Euro so I don't think the price quoted above is a little high at all.

Thanks, all. This is for a flight to another country, two flights in total, but not going out of Europe. Do you think its proper to be at the airport at 5 am or 6am?

Never hurts to be at the airport early, especially if you are checking luggage. I also recommend Victor Cabs. He will give you a flat rate to CDG.

I have never paid more than 55€ for an early morning taxi to CDG from Paris but there will be an additional 3€ charge for the 4th person so your fare may approach 60€. There is no need to tip a taxi driver but if you do, tipping more than 3% is absolutely more than sufficient.

The 3 hour recommendation is for transatlantic flights, otherwise 90 minutes to 2 hours is fine.

The chances are the desk won't open until 6. Do as suggested and specify a cab for 4 plus luggage the day before.

Not all countries in Europe are part of the Schengen agreement. Is the second country in the Schengen area? If yes, treat it like a domestic flight. If not, treat it like an international flight. www.axa-schengen.com/en/schengen-countries

Okay, yes then it would be treated like a domestic flight. Good to know! 6am will hopefully be sufficient then.
