Paris train to plane
 

Any suggestions on how to get from Paris Gare de l'Est train station to CDG? We arrive into Paris by train around 6:30p.m. and need to get to our airport hotel for next day departure.

Take the metro from Gare de l'Est. Take Line 5 Direction Bobigny Pable Picasso one stop to Gare Du Nord. Then take The RER B (blue line) Direction CDG airport. You can get off at Terminal 1 or 2. Find out from your hotel where there shuttle service picks up. You will need a special ticket to go to the airport which you can get in the ticket window or the automated machine.<BR><BR>Be attentive for the entire trip. Both train stations are on the rough side and have lots of pick pockets.<BR><BR>If you want to spend the money a taxi should get you there in 30 mins.

4 people with luggage? take a taxi - there's a cab stand just outside the terminal, and all sorts of taxis pull up. There's usually a taxi-traffic controller who gets people into the right cabs (he usually has a two-way radio and will call cabs if he doesn't have enough) so don't worry about getting something big enough for four. You might pay about US$40, but split four ways it's not much more than the metro/RER and you aren't fighting commuters.

how long does it take on the RER to CDG?

From RER B stop in the center of Paris to CDG, about 60 mins (takes into consideration waiting for a train - they come about every 10 minutes during prime time - but not having to get to the RER B stop to catch the train).

You are welcome.<BR><BR>Dragging loads of luggage through the metro is a pain. You may want to consider a taxi. <BR><BR>Keep in mind that taxis are required to take no more than 3 people. They have the right to refuse 4 so you may have some difficulty finding one. Either split up and take two taxis or wait untill you find one that will take you but dont be surprised if you are turned down a few times.<BR><BR> Also keep in mind that there is a supplement for each peice of luggage. This will not show on the meter. The taxi driver will add this in his head and ask you for more than is on the meter. The suppliment is clearly posted in english inside the taxi. You will also be asked to pay a supplement for the fourth person and that is up to the driver as he doesnt have to accept the fourth person.
