Paris train Station
 

Hi! <BR>I understand that Paris have 5 train stations. Are they far apart from each other? Is there any connection between all these stations? I checked the Sncf website and found out that sometimes we need to change the station for connection. May I know how to go about doing it? With luggages to carry and still need to run to another station for train connection, do you think it will be too risky----that we might miss the connection? <BR> <BR>mast

Here's a list of the train stations (Gares): <BR>Gare d'Austerlitz <BR>Gare de l'Est <BR>Gare de Lyon <BR>Gare Montparnesse <BR>Gare du Nord <BR>Gare St Lazare <BR>Gare de l'Est and Gare de Nord fairly close to each other as are Gare d'Austerlitz and Gare de Lyon. Mast, <BR>Go to www.paris.org and in the left hand frame, click on Metro/RER and you can then click on maps of the Metro and RER lines to determine your routing from train station to train station. With luggage, you may be better off using taxis; during rush hours the Metro is jammed. So too are the streets jammed with traffic during the same period. Do allow ample time for connections.

What two stations do you need to transfer between? I would probably take a cab but there is an Air France bus that goes between a couple (although it's really for airport passengers, I think anyone can use it) stations, but that might be too complicated. I think the AF bus goes from Gare Montparnasse and then over to Gare de Lyon, for example, before going to CDG (it's not right at Gare Montparnasse, but very close on a side street next to it, you can walk to the gare easily from the stop). I would just take a cab, but people can give you better advice if you name your stations.

We recently transferred between Paris Austerlitz and Gare De Lyon. It was a short walk--basically across the street. Very manageable without alot of luggage.

Umm - casey, are you sure you transferred from Gare d'Austerlitz to Gare de Lyon? <BR> <BR>These stations are on opposite banks of the Seine and it is at least a 1/2-mile walk which includes crossing the Seine, managing the busy place Valhubert and the awkward access to Gare de Lyon. <BR> <BR>Its not a thing I would try doing without precise knowledge of the surroundings and with more luggage than a briefcase. <BR> <BR>All in all I would take a taxi with the exception of a transfer between Gare du Nord ans Gare de l'Est
