Paris train connections
 

We will be coming in on the Euro star from London to Paris Gare du Nord at 14:17p 9-june then needing to get to Gare Montparnesse to leave at 15:55 same day for Biarritz. What are the options to getting from one station to the other, besides by taxi? We each have a carryon bag. Then on the return Gare Montparnesse to Opera district? Also, approx time. Getting nervous about making the conncections. Thanks all!

Metro Line 4 southwards to Porte d'Orleans will take you from Gare du Nord to Montparnasse in less than an half an hour.

Thanks Tony for the info. So, there is a metro station at Gare du Nord and are there a several metros leaving every hour? Is there a platform/level/gate to look for. Thanks again.

At that time of day the metro will come every few minutes.

When you enter the station from the Eurostar, look to your left for big blue signs RER and a big M (for metro) and go downstairs. You want Metro Line 4 Direction Porte d'Orleans (it's a hike to the platform); there are a gazillion stops before you get to Montparnasse; when you see St Sulpice, you've got only a stop or two more before the Montparnasse-Bienvenue station. You'll have another pretty good walk from there to the station, but don't worry, you'll make your train with time to spare. <BR> <BR>To get from Montparnasse to Opera is a little trickier; here's a slightly longer route, but you avoid the dreaded Chatelet stop: Metro line 13 direction Saint Denis; change at Invalides for line 8 direction Creteil - only a few stops to Opera. <BR> <BR>Stand at the end of the cars, as there's room for luggage (not much) and you won't be crawling over people to get out...

Not to add to your stress but once you arrive at Montparnesse on the Metro you have a longish walk to the train station itself. The trains to Chartes also leave from Montparnesse, transfering between the two systems by foot took us at least ten minutes even with moving sidewalks.
