Paris to Stuttgart, train or plane?
I am traveling alone from Paris to Stuttgart in June. When I looked up raileurope.com, I found only 1 direct train (night train). Is there a better way? Is it a lot more expensive to go by plane?

Raileurope doesn't sell tickets to all the trains, and there are several direct trains a day from Paris East to Stuggart (enroute to Munich), and takes 6 hours. According to bahn.de, it's € 79,60 one way for regular tickets.
I don't believe there's a low-fare airline that flies direct between Paris and Stuttgart. But you can check the majors (AF and LH) to see how much they cost.

There are actually 4 daily direct train connections per day, check at www.bahn.de. None of the discount airlines service this route, and AF or LH charge more than 400 Euro for this segment.

Here's an "outside-the-box" suggestion: spend an overnight in Venice - - fly volareweb.com for as little as 5.00 euro (plus 30.65 euro in taxes), departing 9:20 am, arriving 11:10 - - then for 59.99 euro (taxes included), fly hlx.com (partner of volareweb.com for this route) to Stuttgart, departing 7:40 am, arriving 8:55.
You gotta stay SOMEwhere each night - - why not make it Venice?
Best wishes,
Rex
