paris to strasbourg hotels
 

My husband and I are arriving Sept 10 at CDG(paris) and will be picking up a car at the airport. We have reservations in Strasbourg on the 12 but need accommadations in between. We would like something nice, clean and in a good location. Our budget is flexible but prefer not to blow it. We would prefer to spend it on meals.
Any suggestions for places to stay and things to see? Also after Alsace we head south to Switzerland on the 16th and are looking for places to stay and ultimately end up back in Paris for a Sept 23 departure back to the states. Would appreciate any lodging and site help.

This isn't exactly what you are looking for, but my parents, husband and I drove from Paris to Strasbourg about a month ago (stopping in Reims for a champagne tasting--fabulous), and, barring any weird pregnancy amnesia, it wasn't a bad drive, I don't think.

That said, I'm sure others here will give you wonderful places to stop overnight between, and I will back to top then!

You might wish to consider that you can take the train from Paris Est to Strasbourg for 20E 2cl, 30E 1 cl - 4hr trip.

You could spend your jet-lagged 10th and the 11th in Paris. Then get your your car in Strasbourg.

Alternatively, you could drive CDG to Reims for your first night and on to Nancy.

Have you considered flying into Paris and out of Zurich, Munich or Stuttgart?

It really isin't a bad drive. When we did the same drive we stayed in Reims on the way back. There is a Holiday Inn Express that we stayed in that is right off the Autoroute. Very easy on an off. In Reims you can go to the champagne houses and the cathedral. maybe a half day there should do it if you are in a hurry.

When we stayed in Strasbourg we stayed at the Comfort Inn at the river on the Ille De Citi. It was very nice and the rooms were big. You guys should also think about a trip to Baden Baden for some spa action. Its only about an hour and a half from Strasbourg.

The Chateau de Fere, in Fere-en-Tardenois, is a marvelous hotel with a friendly staff and a very good restaurant. It's a little over an hour away from CDG.

Nancy is a good choice for the second night.

Ira - Are there decent stops between in the Champagne region ? We are planning a similar trip this Winter via train.

We've done this drive, Paris-Alsace-Switzerland-Burgundy, on 3 occasions and would do it again without hesitation.

It is only about a 4 hour drive from Paris to Strasbourg, right through the Champagne region. We always opt to stay somewhere in the Haut Rhin region, or the southern part of Alsace and a little closer to Switzerland.

Thanks for all the information, please keep it coming. We are using FF miles so we are stuck going in and out of CDG at this time. We were in Paris last year at this time and are returning again next April ao we are pretty much avoiding the city on this visit. We also visited Reims last year and took a tour of Veuve Clicqot. We will check out Chataeu de Fere. That said, we found a Hotel called Auberge de Relais de Reuilly near Reims for the first night. Has anyone heard of this place? Airconditioned rooms and a good restaurant? We would like to go to Nancy the second night. Any ideas where to stay? What is there to do there? We like to eat good food, watch people and stroll around the different areas, museums and concerts are a plus.

Nancy is fabulous if you like Art Nouveau architecture and art. And if you don't know much about it, you'll learn to love it. The tourist office in the main plaza has maps identifying where all the buildings and museums are, and a walking tour of the area is a lot of fun. We stayed at the large hotel in the main plaza, Stanislaus, I believe it's called...can't find my notes. It looks grand from the pictures, but it was pretty average. However, it's an excellent location for seeing the town. It's really a wonderful town, not to be missed.
