Paris to Rome
 

hi,<BR><BR>I am planning a 12 day trip to Paris, Venice and Rome. I will be taking a flight to Paris and then covering Venice and Rome.I am not how to cover all the three places.I have two alternatives in mind .<BR>paris-rome-venice-paris or<BR>paris-venice-rome-paris.<BR><BR>I am not sure which is a better option.Alos sholuld I fly to Rome or Venice from paris or shold I opt for Euro Rail pass exclusivley for France and Italy.<BR><BR>any help would be greatly appreciated.<BR>Thanks<BR>Sandeep

We did a Milan-Venice-Rome-Paris and it worked well. Most airlines let you let from one airport and arrive at another.

OK, we just dealt with something similar with four cities. This what we did. Flew to Paris. Took a four day stopover in the cities of lights, flew on to Rome. Trained around Italy, and then trained back to Rome,a and flew back out of Rome. It was the cheapest way by far. <BR><BR>You either get a long stop over OR an open jaw (fly into one city and out of the another). You usually don't get both. The way we did it, we got the stop over and the open jaw. We just needed to get back to Rome. <BR><BR>So you know Rome to Florence is a 15 hour train ride.

I think Beth forgot the period between the one and the five. The Eurostar train time from Rome to Florence is one and a half hours.<BR><BR>I've done this trip a couple of times and have always found the following strategy the best from a cost and time usage point of view. I use a round trip fare into Paris from the US. Spend my first few days (3 or 4) in Paris. Then I use an inter Europe open jaws flight to go from Paris to Venice. Visit Italy working my way south on trains thru Florence, Siena, Assisi, Orvieto, and then into Rome. Spend a few days in Rome, then use the second half of my open-jaws ticket from Rome back to Paris. Spend one or two last days in Paris and then head back home. Generally speaking the round trip LA-Paris have cost me from $450-$650, and the Paris-Venice/Rome-Paris open jaws tickets have run from $300-$400.<BR>
