Paris to Nice river trip
 

We are trying to compare this boat trip offered by both Grand Circle Travel and Vantage Travel..If anyone has done either and can offer help as to the advantages of one over the other, we would appreciate it.....Thanks in advance!

There is no river from Paris to Nice. The Seine flows northwards from Paris. There are canals linking Paris to southern France, but they cannot take big cruise ships.
The Vantage Travel itinerary seems to involve flying to Chalon-sur-Saone, cruising down the Saone and Rhone to Arles, then flying to Nice. I don't know why there are flights for such relatively short journeys in a country with fast train services. Personally, I'd rather travel around using local transport, stay in local hotels and eat in local restaurants (I doubt whether you'll meet many French people on this cruise).

The Vantage tour is just plain silly. You could do the same trip, see a lot more, eat a lot better, and stay in better hotels for about 1/2 to 2/3 the price. It's not a "river cruise." As GeoffHammer points out, there aren't rivers that run from Paris to Provence, and the flying bits are totally extraneous in a country that has marvelous fast trains.

I have no idea what the Grand Circle tour involves, but I would get a map and a guidebook or two and figure out where you want to go and what you want to do. There are plenty of self-drive options if you want to do the Canal-du-Midi, for example. And there are luxury cruises if you don't want to drive a boat yourself.
