Paris to Monaco

Hi! Need some help planning trip to Paris in late March. We would like to go to Monaco, but when I checked the train schedules at Rail Europe's web page, I found that it was a
7 hour trip. Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Kathy

The trip is 6 hours; 36 minutes from Gare de Lyon, leaving at 7:54.
You change in Nice for Monaco.
The full 1st class fare, no discounts,is about $105, depending on the rate of exchange. (788 francs to be exact.)
How long did you think the trip should be? It is a non trivial distance from Paris to Monaco.
I see there's one direct day train, 11:50-17:52. There's also an overnight train, 21:17-8:21, leaving from the Gare d'Austerlitz, if that's any help.

Is that the time for the TGV? We went Paris to Nice a few years ago, and it did not seem that long. We took a day trip to Monaco, and a night trip to the casino, both via train, and it seemed right next door. Make sure you are timing the trip with that very fast mode, and not a regular commuter.
The time I saw was one I read off of the SNCF web site. It is for TGV 6171. The German Bundesbahn website reports the same times. Hence, I presume they are accurate.
(I get interested in train times; sort of a hobby, even though I may never take the trip myself.)
