Paris to Marseille or Aix
 

From Paris we are staying in Aix 1 night, renting a car and driving to Cannes. Should we train to Marseille from Paris, rent the car in Marseille tour a little then drive to Aix, or just train to Aix and not hassle with Marseille? Thanks in advance.

I would take the train to Aix... It's a great small city. Where are you staying?

If you are staying in Aix, I suggest the TGV to Aix (3 hr) and visiting Marseille from there.

It's about 1 hr by bus.

If you're only in Aix for one night, why not just spend the time there?

Another vote to stay in Aix. Plenty to do for the day there.

Please remember that the Aix TGV station is not in Aix.

It's about 18 km outside of Aix proper.

You will have to transfer, via taxi, bus, etc...

You could think of renting a car at the TGV station and using it from there.

Try kemwell and autoeurope for rentals. They are not car rental agencies but more like consolidators.

I think autoeurope purchased kemwell but I get better rates quoted via kemwell than autoeurope. After paying you will find out the name of the rental agency. Although you pay in full the amount is fully refundable.
